It is offensive out of marriage.
The Kama Sutra roughly translated means Pleasure Instructions, it's meant for married couples and has been a popular How To book of the times, however I'm sure it's still meant only for married people.

I assumed that it is more for married people since Indians value virginity until marriage, I can assume that they've strayed from that thought, but as far as I know that is still the ideal. Sorry if I'm wrong? I'm no Indian myself, but I do have a lot of friends directly from there.
